I always choose a word or phrase for the upcoming year, which I spend time embroidering on January first as a deliberate ritual to really set the intention. Now that we’re all physically better – though emotionally still a bit raw, to be honest – I have a slightly different perspective on the plans I made in my blissfully unaware state on New Year’s Eve. I intended for this newsletter to be about my new notebook fixation and my intentions for 2024, but January 1 brought with it a full plot twist, and my family and I spent the first couple days of this year in the throes of sudden, intense illness.
